Everyone has insecurities about something. They often pop up on bad days, when someone makes a negative comment, or when we fall short of our goals. It’s not a great feeling, but it’s totally normal. The good news is, there are ways to tackle those insecurities and feel better about ourselves.
3 Ways to Fight Insecurity
There are a lot of ways to fight insecurity, but these three helped me a lot. I hope it will be helpful to you as well.
- Embrace yourself
Everyone has their own flaws. Some of them we can change, but others are just part of who we are. When it comes to the things we can’t change, the best thing we can do is accept and love ourselves. After all, no one can love you unconditionally better than you can. Instead of running away from your negative thoughts, embrace them. Accept that you’re not perfect—because nobody is.
- Try to improve yourself
Of course, overcoming insecurity also involves a bit of self-improvement. There are plenty of ways to do this: attend workshops, join community activities, or seek advice from experts. By working on yourself, you’re opening up to the idea that you’re capable of more than you might think.
- Let go
Some people just love to bring others down. If you have someone like that in your life, it’s best to let them go. You don’t need that negativity. Instead, surround yourself with people who encourage and uplift you. If you’re in a toxic situation, like a difficult workplace, consider removing yourself from it to avoid triggering your insecurities.
I have a lot of insecurities too. There are many nights when I cry myself to sleep, but deep down, I know the only way to overcome this is by embracing who I am, working on self-improvement, and letting go of people and situations that hold me back.
