How One Piece Brought Me Back to Writing Novels (In the Most Unexpected Way)

If you’ve been following my posts, you already know how obsessed I am with One Piece. From binge-watching episodes to collecting merchandise, it’s safe to say the Straw Hat crew has taken over my free time, and honestly, I didn’t think much of it beyond being a fun hobby.

But then something unexpected happened. My obsession with One Piece didn’t just stop at anime marathons and merch hauls, it actually led me back to my very first love: writing novels.

I used to spend hours writing when I was younger, creating characters and stories from scratch. Over the years, though, life got in the way, and my writing slowly faded into the background. I thought I’d never really go back to it. But then came Zoro.

There was something about Zoro, his loyalty, his strength, his flaws, that sparked my creativity again. Before I knew it, I wasn’t just watching One Piece anymore; I was writing about it. I found myself crafting novels centered around him, weaving in my own storytelling style while staying true to the world Oda created.

It felt both nostalgic and refreshing. I didn’t expect fanfiction to reignite my passion for writing, but here I am, happily diving back into words and worlds. And while I used to write with the goal of finishing a book someday, this time it feels different, it feels freer, more fun, and deeply personal.

What started as an obsession with an anime turned into a reminder of something I’ve always loved but forgot along the way. And maybe that’s the beauty of passions, they have a way of finding their way back to you, sometimes in the most unexpected forms.
