Last year’s convention was unforgettable, it was the first time cosplaying, and I went as Frieren. It was a smaller event, cozy and full of friendly faces, and it really sparked my love for cosplay even more. But this year? I decided to take things up a notch.
This time, my boyfriend and I attended a much bigger event, larger venue, more booths, more cosplayers, and an even more electric atmosphere. The moment we walked in, it felt like stepping into another world. Everywhere I looked, there were fans in amazing costumes, from anime classics to trending shows.
For this convention, I dressed up as Roronoa Zoro (girl version) from One Piece, while my boyfriend came as Hibino Kafka from Kaiju No. 8. It was such a fun duo, our characters couldn’t be more different, but somehow it worked perfectly. I loved how confident and strong I felt in my Zoro outfit, and it made me smile every time someone recognized the look or asked for a photo.
What made this event extra special was that we decided to book a professional photographer for a proper shoot. We’ve always loved taking photos together, but having a legit photographer capture our cosplay moments felt like such a milestone. The duo shots turned out so good, it honestly made me feel like our characters had come to life.
Beyond the costumes and the photos, what I loved most was sharing the whole experience with my boyfriend. From fixing tiny costume details to laughing between photo takes, it reminded me why I fell in love with cosplay in the first place. It’s about creativity, community, and having fun doing something you both love.
By the end of the day, we were tired, sweaty, but so happy. It was one of those days that made me realize how much joy there is in embracing your passions and sharing them with someone who supports you through it.
This event wasn’t just another cosplay, it felt like a celebration of how far I’ve come.
I can’t wait for the next one. Maybe we’ll go even bigger.
