I honestly can’t believe my friends and I have reached this stage of life.
The same people I used to spend weekends with, stay out late with, and talk about absolutely nothing with are now… parents. And somehow, we’re attending kids’ first birthday parties.
Not our first birthdays. Not our friends’ birthdays. Kids’ birthdays.
It’s such a strange feeling because, in my head, we’re still the same group of friends who are figuring life out together. But then suddenly, someone sends an invitation that says, “Join us as we celebrate our little one’s 1st birthday!”
And I’m like… Wait. Your baby is already ONE?! Where did the time go?
And Then There’s the Adults’ Table
The funniest part is realizing that we’re no longer sitting with the kids. We’re actually at the adults’ table.
There was a time when being at the adults’ table felt like such a big deal because you were finally allowed to sit with the grown-ups.
Now, apparently, we ARE the grown-ups. We’re sitting there talking about work, bills, relationships, home renovations, investments, health checkups, and responsibilities.
Meanwhile, there’s a kid running around wearing a tiny birthday crown.
And I’m sitting there thinking: How did we get here?
Our Friends Have Kids Now
One by one, my friends are entering completely different chapters of their lives.
Some are married. Some have kids. Some are buying houses. Some are juggling careers and family. It’s both funny and incredibly heartwarming.
Because I remember when these friends were just trying to figure out their own lives. Now, they’re raising little people. And somehow, I’m old enough to witness it.
